First topic: South by Southwest music festival has been cancelled because of the fear of Covid-19, a.k.a. Coronavirus. What is the effect of Covid-19 on DJs and music venues?
Second topic: two musicians have created every possible melody with an algorithm, copyrighted them, and released them to the public domain so that artists and musicians can create music without the fear of being sued. Is this good or bad for the music industry and artists moving forward?
All of these topics and of course we end every episode with the Jagoff of Da Week!

HEY CHICAGO! This week on "Couch Stories" we speak with songwriter, composer, keyboardist/pianist, and band leader of "Gramps the vamp," Maxx McGathey. Justin speaks with Maxx about how his "Gramps the Vamp" got started and what he wants to accomplish in music moving forward.
Maxx shares a few stories about his crazy experiences on the CTA, cycling around the city of Chicago, and some crazy performances he experienced while performing live on stage. With interesting insights about life, music, and dealing with people, Maxx and Justin swap stories about being artists and what it takes to make it and be happy crafting your art.

HEY CHICAGO! This week on Da Podcast we speak with Maxx McGathey who is a Chicagoan born and bred pianist, songwriter, composer, and leader of the amazing band, "Gramps the Vamp." Self-described as a "post-apocalyptic dance party with ghoulish undertones and funk," Maxx has been running Gramps the Vamp for nine years and they have been a staple in the Chicagoland band scene.
We talk with Maxx about the music industry today, specifically about the art of creating music versus the celebrity status that comes about in many genres of music and what it takes to be able to continue perfecting your art. The C60 crew speaks with Maxx about what it is like running and leading a band and what it takes to make a band successful in 2020.
Ron shares some insights about the music industry from the perspective of hip-hop and rap and discusses with Maxx the similarities and differences between genres and what it takes to be an a music artist.

HEY CHICAGO! On this week's episode we have on Susan FoxyBob Gordon, a Chicago-based actress and puppeteer! Susan was featured in an indie film, "Ginger," where she plays a woman dealing with cancer that has blown up in the Chicago indie film community.
We talk to Susan about her role in "Ginger" and other Chicago-based shows like "Empire" where she has featured. We discuss how she prepares for each character role and what it takes to be an actor it today's climate.
The C60 crew discuss Netflix taking over everything and how social media has played an integral part in being an actor today.
This episode was filmed in front of a live audience and we even fielded questions. Of course, we end every episode with the Jagoff of Da Week.

HEY CHICAGO! WE. ARE. BACK! After a couple week's hiatus with Justin being on vacation in India, we come back to bring you another episode with our friend and special guest, Daisy Isamary Hernandez.
Daisy is an accomplished Latina actor here in Chicago who has been in numerous short films, commercials, and music videos. We discuss the trends Daisy is seeing being a Latina, a women of color, in the entertainment industry and what she prefers working on within the industry. We discuss her projects with Univision and the Spanish-speaking community and the non-Spanish casting directors. We even discuss the Oscars and the Super Bowl backlash that happened against J-LO and Shakira and the stereotypes that occur towards Latinas.
Our second main topic involves the word "pets." Apparently, we should not say that word because it is offensive to your pets. PETA told us so. The C60 crew and Daisy discuss this topic and whether or not we should adopt the new phrases PETA proposed.

HEY CHICAGO! This week on DA Podcast we have a very special guest, Saint James! Saint is an extremely hilarious and multi-talented comedian and the host of "The Young Hustle Show" at the Chicago Laugh Factory Comedy Club on Broadway and Belmont.
Last year, we interviewed Saint James when Mike Jaworski was the host and things got off the rails. Enjoying that experience, Saint decided to come back and speak with us about the Chicago comedy scene.
We talk with Saint about open mics and the comedians of today and what he has witnessed being the host of several shows around Chicago. How are comedians different? What is the material like? What is he witnessing about comedians' processes and his own process of writing jokes.
We debate whether improv is more well known as a comedic art form in Chicago than stand-up and we discuss the differences between the two great comedy clubs in Chicago, Zanies and The Laugh Factory.
Finally, we discuss how comedy is different between Chicago, New York City, and Los Angeles and the progression comics take in each city.
A quick SMACK to da Packers for getting smacked by the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game (so amazing) and of course we end every episode with the Jagoff of Da Week!

Udit and Justin both went to Northern Illinois University together at the College of Business and became close friends. After graduating, Udit took an unplanned journey through the Chicago Public Schools administrative offices and ended up finding his passion educating children on the STEM fields.
A natural entrepreneur, Udit has started several businesses before landing on his passion at Next Wave STEM. Justin speaks with Udit about his origins and his vision for his company.

HEY CHICAGO! This week on DAAAA Podcast, we open up our 2020 season with an amazing special guest: Udit Agarwal, CEO, president, founder of Next Wave STEM. Udit is an entrepreneur who has started several companies already, but his biggest success is Next Wave STEM which offers programs for in school, after school, and professional development for teachers to help build interest in the STEM subjects.
STEM stands for: science, technology, engineering, math
We speak with Udit about his company Next Wave STEM and the trends he is seeing in schools across the Illinois area with children grades K-12. Da C60 crew provides some statistics on how the USA is averaging in these fields compared to other countries and Udit provides some insight based on his experience with the Chicago Public Schools.
Udit and the C60 crew also discuss the issue of school enrollment going way down and how STEM programs help with that issue and how the USA can do better to increase its presence for the increasing job market for STEM related professions.
